"Backyard Birds" by Elizabeth Johansson
The artist began this project in late February. Outside her studio window there are birdfeeders. All winter chickadees were welcomed visitors, giving life to the stillness of winter. That was the clue for the design of the blanket chest. As she was painting the chickadee, a female cardinal became the newest bird in our winter yard. Then came the bluebirds, a welcome sight, spring is near.
