"Shaker Memories"   by Lenita Bofinger

I visited Shaker Village on a sunny day in January, took photos and returned to my studio.  After a few days of study and sketching I saw a view that showed me something I'd not seen on other visits in spring, summer, fall: the missing Shakers.

The solitude was not created by the missing tourists but by the missing Shakers who created the site.

I hope my painting expresses the memory of Shakers and the beauty they accomplished.
