Apples Ÿ~ Backpacks & Bone Builders ~Ÿ Caregivers

The Friends Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is making strides on many fronts.

As part of the RSVP Food Insecurity Project, volunteers are busy with gleaning and more gleaning which is contributing thousands of pounds in fresh fruit and vegetables to local food pantries, soup kitchens, and schools. The gleaning year is not over yet; apple season is fast approaching! Also - due to amazing support including grants from Benjamin Couch Trust, Capital City Sunrise Rotary - The Backpack Program is expanding into Boscawen Elementary School in addition to where it originated at Penacook Elementary School.

RSVP Bone Builders is a free strength training and balance exercise program for seniors. We currently offer 31 classes in Belknap, Merrimack and Rockingham counties. The classes are free thanks to participant donations and community financial support such as the grant received from the Franklin Savings Bank Fund through New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to train RSVP volunteers to serve as class leaders in Franklin. We also have nutrition offerings to encompass overall health and well-being.

The RSVP Caregivers Program is in need of volunteer drivers in Concord and surrounding areas. You can help homebound seniors and disabled adults live independently, reduce isolation, loneliness, and depression by providing companionship and transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping.

We welcome you to join our Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in any number of capacities: companionship, exercising, gleaning, supporting nonprofits, transportation, and so much more! Give us a call at 603-228-0139.
