From the Toughest Times of Tragedy...Tina’s Buckets of Love!
Over the past 12+ years, The Beachbum Philanthropy giving family has enjoyed being part of the Friends Emergency Housing mission.
Sadly, this past December, The Beachbums lost one of their founding members: Steve Gamlin’s beloved wife Tina, while on vacation in London UK.
All alone, shaking and shattered, 3000 miles from home...an idea began to brew in Steve’s mind, from a seed planted during a recent Beachbum team call.
How could we honor Tina’s legacy, by helping people who held a soft spot in her her heart?
That’s when the concept of “Tina’s Buckets of Love” was born.
Knowing that single Moms and Dads, with help from the Emergency Housing Program, are working hard to secure new housing for their families, a question popped up:
Question: “How can we add value as they make this stressful yet rewarding transition?”
Answer: By providing as many ‘basic necessities’ as possible.
The first shopping trip was a very emotional one, which inspired a social media message titled:
“Who Was That Sad Man at the Dollar Tree?”
Yup...it was Steve.
Days later, the first delivery was brought to the Emergency Housing Office.
A mop bucket, tall kitchen trash can and a laundry basket...each LOADED to the brim with an assortment of kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies, pantry items, pots and pans, personal care items and more.
The entire Beachbum family is involved, which has brought us together (closer than ever) during this difficult time.
What helps us with our healing?
Staying true to our mission to commit consistent acts of kindness, honoring Tina by continuing to help others in her name...and educating others on how SIMPLE it can be...to become a Giver.
