WINTER SUN, 2014
OIL ON BOARD, 9"X12"
One morning while taking our cat Snoop for her yearly checkup, I was taken with the winter sun shining above Little Turkey Pond. So low in the sky of deep winter, the sun was unlikely to get any higher for a month or more. The sky was overcast with a winter grey – the islands loomed large wrapped in atmosphere. The snow on the lake glowed like roaring silence.

MATISSE'S BALCONY
OIL ON LINEN, 11"X14"

The range and tenacity of Matisse’s work are an inspiration. In "Matisse's Balcony", the edge of the vase is where things shift from a realistic still life to a glimpse into his world.

A WORLD AWAY
"With each painting I create, I strive to achieve a feeling of happiness. In this piece, the happiness comes from the vibrant colors and undulating shapes that appear to play across the surface. It is an altered reality based on the idea of a rolling landscape, interspersed with abstract expressionism. This painting, created with oil paint on a burlap surface, evokes the joy and inspiration the Friends Program provides to all those involved."
