Emergency Housing Rededication of the Shelter
Concord Mayor, Byron Champlin along with City councilors and members of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce, presided over the ceremony with Executive Director Nancy McKeon and Emergency Housing Director Glenda León. Donors, supporters, volunteers and representatives of partner agencies were given tours of the facility. “Today marks the expansion of one of the most important facilities that we have in Concord for families experiencing homelessness…where people pair passion and compassion and help people who really need someone to be there when they need it most” stated Mayor Champlin.
The renovation was made possible with support from community members, businesses, volunteers, private foundations and organizations such as the Community Development Finance Authority. Executive Director Nancy McKeon went on to add “At long last, we have the space that provides the dignity our families deserve. We will never forget that families live here.” Families who have graduated from the Emergency Housing Program also receive support through aftercare the program offers when families leave the shelter. These efforts help families to maintain housing long term.
